    Karaman

    Taşkale Carpet

The people of Taşkale feed the Karaman sheep. These sheep have the best quality wool, and that wool is washed in streams, hand spun into skeins, and dyed with natural madders. The most popular colour of this region is a reddish-brown shade obtained from walnut shells and leaves. The most important feature of Taşkale carpets (Taşkale Halısı) is that they retain their colour for many years, are durable and are woven with the reverse tie knot technique, a rarity in the world.
